What a groom speech needs
- Thank-yous grouped and kept warm, not a roll call.
- A word for both families, and for anyone who could not be there.
- How you met, told in a few lines.
- Something true about your partner that only you could say.
- A toast, and in the UK a hand-over to the best man.
Priya and I met in the queue for a ferry that had been cancelled. Everyone else was furious. Priya had already found a café, ordered two teas and was asking the man behind the counter about the history of the harbour. She handed me the second tea and said, "You looked like you needed it."
I have been following her into cafés ever since. Priya, you make every delay feel like part of the plan. I cannot believe I get to call you my wife.

How it works
Answer a few questions
Who it is for, how you know them, and two or three stories. About five minutes. No account needed.

The plan for the speech, its opening lines, and three questions that dig out the detail that makes it land.
Get your speech in a minute
Pay once and watch it being written. Revise it as often as you need, then print cue cards or rehearse with read-aloud.
The best man and the maid of honor speaking too?
One order for 3 speakers at the same wedding, for example the best man, the maid of honor and a parent. You fill in your speech now; each speaker adds their own details later through their own link, and the speeches are coordinated so no story or joke is told twice.
$89 for 3 coordinated speeches, instead of $39 each. Every speech has its own 10 revisions. On the form, choose the occasion and then “Wedding party pack: 3 speeches for $89”.
Questions
How long should a groom speech be?
Four to six minutes, about 500 to 750 spoken words. The thank-yous take time, so keep the stories to one or two. Choose the length on the form and the speech is timed to it.
When does the groom speak, UK and US?
In the UK the groom traditionally speaks second, after the father of the bride, thanks the guests and both families, toasts the bridesmaids and hands over to the best man. In the US the groom often says a short thank-you at the reception, sometimes together with his partner. Choose English (UK) for the British order and spelling.
What should a groom not say?
Nothing about exes, the stag do or private jokes from the honeymoon plans, and no thank-you list so long the room drifts. The writer groups the thanks and keeps the focus on your partner. Add anything else off limits under "Anything to avoid?".
Can my partner and I give a joint speech?
Yes. Mention it under "Anything that must be in it?" and the speech is written for two voices, with clear hand-overs.
Our money-back promise
If your speech is not what you hoped for, use the withdrawal form within 14 days of your order and we refund the full price. We make this promise voluntarily, on top of your statutory rights.
It applies once per customer (the same email address or card), the request must reach us before the event date you gave on the order form, and we ask you to tell us briefly what was not right. Other requests within the 14 days are reviewed by a person and answered by email.
